About UAG

Background

URBAN ARMOR GEAR was founded in 2012 in Orange County, California – the action sports center of the world. Bored with the corporate world and unimpressed by the case offerings at the time, three founders got together and decided to create a case that could provide unrivaled protection for their phones in the most challenging situations.

UAGが開発した最初のiPhoneケースはiPhone 4用で、ジェリカンからインスピレーションを得た斬新なデザインが特徴でした。ジェリカンは、第二次世界大戦中に初めて普及し、ガスや水などの液体を軍隊に輸送するためのもので、軽量でありながら剛性と強度を生み出すためプレス加工された鋼板で作られていました。高品質で軍用レベルの強度を象徴するようなジェリカンから着想を得たデザインは、今ではUAGを象徴するデザインです。当初、売上は低迷していましたが、Samsung S3が発売された頃から注目を集めています。

UAGは、当時流行していた掲示板やブログでマーケティングを行い、テック愛好家に無料サンプルを配ることで知名度を獲得していきました。UAGで保護されたスマートフォンがビルから落ちたり車にひかれたりしても無事だったことが噂となり、UAGの耐衝撃性は評判となりました。

The fun didn’t stop there. As phone manufacturers put out larger and larger devices, the need for protection increased even further. UAG went to great lengths to prove our cases could stand up to the rigors of active lifestyles and embarked on a series of tests to demonstrate it our breakthrough design and functionality.

Some of our breakthroughs include:

As the response from customers increased, we started getting more and more placement as outdoor enthusiasts and people from all walks of life came to appreciate the durability, quality, and style of our cases.
